VirtualBox uses it own mouse driver so it can control the mouse integrations that allows you to pickup the focus of the host or guest simply by moving the mouse and clicking. The only way that I have seen this work is to use a second mouse configured in the USB filters of the guest.

running 4.1.2 with same version of extension kit, when I plug in a usb device but I want it seen by host instead of taken by guest, I right click on the usb activity button and then deselect the usb device just plugged in, but as soon as I do that, the mouse (usb device) hangs and I have to log off my host to get mouse control back.
