I use Parallels and Windows XP, not VirtualBox and Windows 2000. (I only use VirtualBox for Linux.) But first off, go the the Sharing settings in Mac OS X and make sure that file sharing and windows sharing is on, and maybe also remote login or ftp access. You might also be able to set VirtualBox to allow the external drive as a shared folder.
