The WMV plugin only reads the data from WMV/ASF files, it does not include the decoders! VirtualDub uses VfW Codecs only, so you need a suitable VfW Decoder. DirectShow filters, as used by WMPlayer don’t work here… Install the lastest ffdshow-tryouts and make sure you enable the WMV decoders under "VFW Configuration" -> "Decoder" -> "Codecs"

Jun 12, 2014 · Then the problem is with the codecs not with Virtual Dub. Some people reported problems with Virtual Dub on Win 10 although it should work. "ffdshow VFW *does* work with VirtualDub in Windows 10, but it seems that some specific formats are not working.
