I did install VSE 8.8 on Windows XP and Windows 7 machines the same way without the McAfee Agent (Downloaded the trial version and did a standalone installation). Everything seems to be working fine on these machines. The problem is with the Windows 2000 professional SP4 machines.

Re: Windows Server 2000 SP4 VSE 8.8 Patch 4 is the last release to support installing on Windows 2000. FYI, should you run into any issues that require a code change to solve, it's not going to happen (because we no longer support that OS).
