Dec 29, 2013 · It has made progress but is still incomplete. The only feature left missing is b-frame support in interlaced VC-1 and the old ones do not have that. You will notice this as blocky patches in scenes that are static. In windows you may be telling it not use libav under settings which is why it works, in Linux we don't have that fallback.

May 04, 2010 · How VLC does playback of 50i video? It blends both fields together and makes 25p, right? So? It's wrong! 50i is of course 25 frames per seconds but 50 fields per seconds. Making 25p from 50i creates jerky video. I mean "home" video where most people don't care about camera movements.

The content is interlaced—and I do want it to stay interlaced because it looks much better playing back as 60 fields-per-second content with on-the-fly deinterlacing than it does as 30 frames-per-second content that's been deinterlaced at encode-time.

Jan 15, 2018 · I think the major problem in your first set up was using always de-interlace and flicker removal. If you want to keep something interlaced and then export as interlaced use an interlace timeline. Your interlace file probably won't look so good for people who are not using VLC to de-interlace on playback, or who have not turned that option in VLC.
