    Herton Ronaldo Krzesinski from mandriva has been so kind as to forward port my patch to vlc-0.9.2 attached is a version which I've then again forward ported to vlc-0.9.3 and added a few necessary fixes too. With this patch the vlc v4l2 plugin will support all the new cam formats produced by the now in the mainline gpsca v4l2 driver.

VLC does a great job for what I need it for - sending a UDP stream to a Darwin server to be served up to the world. Unfortunately, all the new hardware available (cams, capture cards) are v4l2 only.... which vlc does not (yet) fully support.
