Presenting the award is VLEPSC Commissioner, Martinsville Sheriff Steve Draper and DCJS Accreditation Program Manager Derrick M Mays.

On September 27, 2016 Sheriff Brian Roberts, Brunswick County Sheriff's Office was presented with a plaque from the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission. Sheriff Roberts served as a VLEPSC Commissioner from 2009-2016. From 2012 - 2014 he served as Vice-Chairman and served as Chairman of VLEPSC from 2014-2016.

This event took place during the monthly Board of Supervisors Meeting. The assessment was held in September and the agency was reaccredited by the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission (VLEPSC) in October. The review of files over a four-year period revealed that 190 standards were met each of those years with zero (0) returns.

The only costs for the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission (VLEPSC) program are those incurred for room and board for the assessment team at the time of the on-site assessment, and a $250.00 application fee upon receipt and acceptance of the Agency Participation Agreement.

Mar 28, 2016 · On March 22, The Bristol Police Department was formally recognized and awarded their Initial Accreditation Certificate. DCJS VLEPSC Program Manager Derrick Mays presented the award during the City Council meeting. Several members of the Bristol Sheriff’s Office were also in attendance to support the PD.
