Mar 19, 2018 · I then added a new ‘Host USB Device’ to the VM. Notice that I checked off the ‘vMotion support’ option, which is required for this to work. Once that was done, I couldn’t access the USB stick from within the guest for some reason, but a quick reboot resolved that issue and I was ready to proceed.

Nov 10, 2010 · It is basically as you describe. A VM on Host A with a local USB device can be vMotioned to Host B and the VM will still have access to the USB device in Host A (i.e. the USB communication is passed between Host A and B to maintain the VM's connection to the device).
