Nov 29, 2007 · When I plug in a USB2.0 device and the VM has focus I get a message about needing to upgrade the VM for USB2.0 support. In manual it said to go to VM > Settings > Hardware > USB Controller and check the box called Enable high-speed support for UST 2.0 devices.

In my VM I have the checkboxes "Enable high-speed support for USB 2.0 devices" and "Automatically connect new USB devices to this virtual machine when it has focus" both checked under the USB Controller settings for the VM. I don't know why it is not connecting and need help. Thanks for replies.

I did some research on the Internet and found some interesting posts. It looks like the virtual machine has an older version which does not support USB 2.0. I opened the vmx file with Notepad++and checked the virtualHW.version which was set to 4; the virtual machine has VMWare Workstation 4 hardware compatibility version set.
