May 01, 2007 · We have Gold support and it is works for our environment but if 24X7 is needed then platinum is the way to go. Anytime we have gone to Vmware support there have been no issues. Also as others are saying thw VMTN boards are a great source of support. Like Show 0 Likes (0)

one of our customers recently purchased vmware 5.5 with 1yr gold support subscription, now he want's to upgrade to 6.0, but there is no info about the support subscription in his account information, the serial number of vmware is registered and can be found in his licensing information, but nothing about the subscription

Is it correct to state that this is completely outside the VMware support domain (i.e. VMware Production support, VMware Gold support etc) and thus, no support is available directly from VMware?

May 01, 2007 · I'm fairly sure the gold support is staffed by the same folks as the platinum, with the only difference being the response times. That said, I've been happy with VMWare's support, can't say I've had an issue they haven't responded to within their stated SLA and with knowledgeable support.
