Oct 26, 2011 · I am seeking for a VM solution that supports the Windows 8 VMs to boot from UEFI. It seems currently vSphere 5 does not support Window 8 yet and WorkStation 8 does. However from the product description I saw vSphere claims to support UEFI boot but WorkStation 8 does not. So what's the recommondation here?

I don't think it will ever be resolved. VMware Server was declared End Of Availability in January 2010; There will be no support for Windows 8. Your best try would be trying launching the services in compatibility mode, but why would you do that? Why not use the much more advanced VMware Player or VMware Workstation products?

Nov 16, 2012 · The Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant indicated that VMware Server was compatible but my “hands on” experience indicates otherwise. Microsoft now includes Hyper-V for Windows 8 Pro. I can rebuild my virtual machines in Hyper-V which is nice. Be aware though Hyper-V only supports certain Operating Systems: Guest OS Support. You also need hardware which supports Hyper-V.
