From all the documents on-line I have read from the VMware site, I got the impression that the VMware SVGA II driver was more capable than the VMware WDDM driver. With tables showing SVGA II having support for 3D and Shader Model 3 while WDDM did not it seemed obvious.

With the vmwgfx DRM driver is also kernel mode-setting support.

Jan 08, 2007 · The Display device is VMWare SVGA II, with 16mb of RAM. The driver is vmx_fb.dll, version 11.02.0000.00. Any ideas?
