Nov 25, 2006 · There isn't native support as far as I know, but you can leverage RHEL's support of VLAN interfaces and have vmware-config.pl create vmnet interfaces based on those. For example, my VMWare Server install is on a CentOS 4.3 host with one Intel e1000 NIC. On my switch, I have the port configured with 2 tagged VLANs going to the host: 101 and 201.

There is a possibility to setup VLANs in VMware Workstation. If you're user of VMware Workstation, you usually use one of the 3 basics networking types provided. Bridget, NAT or Host Only.I just stumbled through this KB explaining how to setup VLANs inside of VMware Workstation environment, and especially if you're running several VMs on different hosts as long as the hosts stays connected.

Most important feature request by customers is mapping a virtual NIC to a VLAN. VLAN tagging within the guest is not that important. This is for ASP's or large custumers using VLAN's to separate clients, or diferenciate traffic.
