Nov 19, 2013 · Same problem. S1200BTL motherboard and trying to install ESXi 5.5. USB keyboard works for BOIS and to launch the install from CD but after the file copy and the ESXi Installer starts up, all USB keyboard function is lost.

Long story short, turns out ESXi 5.1 doesn't really support USB 3.0 in the way you might think. In other words, if your system running ESXi 5.1 has USB 3.0 ports, that's nice!
