Jul 22, 2013 · The Adaptec RAID 6405E on Newegg is listed as compatible with VMware ESX. This compatibility listing threw me as I had been avoiding any controller that listed OS compatibility as being software RAID. I think this one is HW RAID. The price seems very reasonable.

It's not something you should have to worry about and normally, you wouldn't be allowed to run ESXi as you'd be expected to spin up your own VM's on their hypervisor of choice.3/5(2)
