Setting pagemap is only needed when wicket multiwindow support is on. The window can be made visible from an ajax handler using show(AjaxRequestTarget). To close the window there are multiple options. Static method close(AjaxRequestTarget) can be used to close the window from a handler of ajax link inside the window.
