Sep 22, 2008 · I have an older computer, running windows 2000. It has two usb ports in the back, two in the front. When I plug in external USB drives (harddrives, or thumbdrives), Windows does not seem to recognize the devices. One external harddrive caused Windows to display a popup that said it didn't have the appropriate drivers.

Recently changed to the Microsoft 200 USB Keyboard At random times it will stop working, the NUM LOCK light will light or go out. Just happened now and does it in IE and desktop apps I do hear the connect/disconnect twiddle (USB) Of course no errors in logs

Apr 28, 2009 · Windows 2000 SP4 has lost it's mind, and it is causing me to lose mine! Bottom line: I think a recent windows update messed up the USB drivers on my machine. I cannot install simple "plug-and-play" USB devices on the machine. Details follow. I'm not too good with hardware, so I apologize if I provide too much or the wrong information.
