Feb 06, 2004 · I am trying to find out if JRockit 8.0 supports hyperthreading correctly on Windows Server 2000. I know that Win2K doesn't have proper support for hyperthreading in that to support it you need to use additional CPU licences rather than the OS identifying the hyperthreading capability properly.

Also, a Windows 2000 Server system with a certain number of processor licenses may not use all the logical processors in the system. A four-way hyper-threading system will report eight processors to Windows 2000; Windows 2000 Server, which recognizes only four processors, will only use the first four logical processors and disregard the others.

Hyperthreading is not the issue, most of the modern Intel multi-core processors support Hyper-threading. I am running Windows 10 on an i7 with hyperthreading, Speed-Step . . . etc. and have no issues! The problem is Windows 10 requires PAE, NX, and SSE2 to be supported on your processor

Jan 06, 2020 · But Intel is only talking about Windows XP. Thats surprising! When the first Intel Xeon with HyperThreading-Support was announced, there only was Windows 2000 (Server). So Windows 2000 supports HyperThreading, but how fast is this old operating system compared to the official HyperTreading-Supporting Windows XP?
