May 25, 2011 · The issue seems to be related to Windows Explorer. Using windows explorer to create a .docx file, I am limited to creating a 77 character file in the path. Using Word 2007 to create a docx file, via File - Save As, I am able to create a filename as long as I want. I stopped at 120 characters.
