Dec 04, 2013 · I just upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1. My Canon Pixma iP4700 printer was working before, but now a dialog says I need to enable bidirectional support in the printer properties. However, when I check that box in the Ports tab of Properties, nothing happens, and when I go back to that dialog the box is again unchecked.

Sep 23, 2017 · My Kodak printer is connected via a local WiFi router and worked fine in Windows 8. However, after I upgrade my computer to Windows 10 Pro, it can’t print anything and lost all functionality. I try to print a test page and it says I need to enable bidirectional support. Making a reboot doesn’t fix it.

When I did that, my option to enable bidirectional support was grayed (ghosted), which left me scratching my head. But then I figured out why the computer was locking me out. By first clicking on the button circled (which grants administrator rights and allows you to change settings), I was able to finally enable bidirectional support.
