Oct 11, 2017 · Does Windows 10 not support DVD-R anymore? Before I toss all of these DVDs I need to find out if Microsoft has set Windows 10 not to support them anymore. The last time I tried to burn some information onto disc it acted like it was burning and closing the disc to be read and then when I checked it there was nothing on the Disc.

May 27, 2012 · If this does not work for you, I can go through a procedure which bypasses the windows cd/dvd support by disabling it and using a trusted 3rd party program instead or there are other fixes we can apply to fix the existing problem with the software/hardware if you would prefer.

Install disks are highly compressed and only a minimal amount if files for booting to the install are uncompressed. What you want can be done with a Live Linux distribution, many will install on a DVD and some like Puppy Linux can install on a CD.
