Jun 07, 2013 · Thanks, now it works fine in windows phone 7 emulator as well as windows phone 7 device. but not working in windows phone 8 emulator. in MSDN they are say wp8 support GIF. but its not animating image.

Jan 17, 2012 · CodePlex has libraries that can be used on Windows Phone to support GIF files as you mentioned, but that is not an official Silverlight library. Nothing against you asking the question here, but have you looked at the forums/discussions on the ImageTools.Codeplex page to see if they can help you as well. You may get more help there.

Yes GIF is officially supported by Windows Phone 8. Also: do not write your own code to turn GIF's into PNG's do a batch conversion. You could also use the .NET Image Tools to use the GIF's on Windows Phone 7. The only thing that might get in your way is a badly formatted GIF or an animated GIF.
