I am running Windows 7 on a machine that's not very old and has had almost no problems. I have used Windows DVD maker to make a several dvds from avi files but I have one frustrating problem. My burner has no trouble with dual layer disks. However, Windows DVD Maker seems to assume disks will be single layer, that is, 4.7 GB.

May 29, 2009 · Although dual-layer backup should technically work just fine, it invariably increases the number of things that could go wrong with the backup process. At this point, all I can advise is that you try to isolate the problem: make sure your drivers are up to date, try a single-layer DVD+R as well as a dual layer DVD-R, etc.

Feb 14, 2014 · I only see Dual Layer DVD_R or +R media. No dual layer RW media. That is the first step, to have dual layer capable media. There are several free DVD burning software available. Do a google search. I have not used any of these so I can't say which ones work or don't work or are the best.
