An alternative is an advanced partitioning scheme like GUID Partition Table (GPT) which can support 3TB volumes. The problem however is that GPT is not supported by Windows XP. Nov 18, 2015 · All live Win XP boot CD's read and write these drives with no problems - so Windows XP obviously can handle GPT partitioning. Could someone please be so kind and tell what kind of driver do I need and where to get it. I'm already grateful.

May 28, 2009 · Right, that's why I want a free GPT mounter for XP. Windows 2003 Server can mount GPT, and it is practically the same OS as XP, so its only a matter of time before some kind soul writes one for XP. I just wondered if any of you knew of one. I have searched the internet for days for other stuff, never finding what I want.

Nov 10, 2014 · The root of this is Windows XP x86 is MBR only meaning that the limitation is to do with MBR. Disks exceeding 2TB must use GPT which extends the limit significantly, however Windows XP does not have this support currently. A 32 bit version of windows generally will only see the protective MBR on a GPT disk.
