Apr 30, 2011 · I know that XP supported 4 gig of RAM when it first shipped. What I want to know is if during all of it's upgrades it has increased to 8 gig in the 32 bit version of XP pro Just to add a little to John's answer above, technically John is correct. 4gb is the stated max.

Oct 19, 2008 · windows XP (with the exception of 64-bit) will never use over 3 gigs of RAM (3.5 max), but with 3 gigs you'll be fine for any OS. All the RAM does is hold information while it's being processed. Since windows XP doesnt need to process that much at once, it doesnt require that much RAM. And RAM isnt a good reason to get vista.
