WinLIRC is idle: WinLIRC has decoded a signal: 3rd Party Support. WinLIRC on its own is not very useful, since it just decodes signals, it needs an application or client to do something useful with the decoded signal. Setting up WinLIRC in applications will vary considerably. I present here just one example, Media Player Classic.

Your explanation makes sense as I know the mce receiver is a pain in the butt. If I could get WinLIRC to see IR codes, I think I could script a solution to make sure WinLIRC is only running when WMC is not. It would see the ir code and power on the TV, amp, and start WMC and then shut down WinLIRC.

Mar 31, 2016 · Winlirc has had nearly a million downloads over the years, when the only receiver supported was a simple homebrew serial device ! Now we have support for other home brew receivers, my favourite is the one that connects to the microphone in on your sound card, as well as several other USB commercial devices.

Mar 31, 2016 · Maybe it is possible to just use the existing lirc-module and modify it to work with WinLIRC, but I neither know how to do that nor how that module even only works. It would be really nice if VLC would support WinLIRC. It's the only AV-Program I am using that does not support it.
