    So WinZIP's AES was much more simpler to implement. And big number of ZIP programs use WinZIP's AES. 7-Zip also uses WinZip AES. But Appnote from pkware doesn't mention WinZip's AES method. So don't look Appnote for such zip archives created by 7-Zip. Zip in Windows probably doesn't support any AES method. You can check it.

    Jul 12, 2016 · For some reason I thought that WinZip had lots of options for the kind of encryption. Actually, there are only three: AES-256, AES-128, and Zip 2.0. I have tested all three and only the Zip 2.0 encryption can be decrypted by the built-in Win 10 tools. Cheers, Larry
