May 19, 2019 · Support with wires. Give climbers support by fixing horizontal wires, 45cm apart, to your fence or wall. Space the vine eyes 1.8m apart horizontally, then run wire through them. May 21, 2015 · Bamboo and willow wigwams are perfect for climbing peas and pole beans, while taller, sturdier wigwams made of thicker poles are recommended for heavier climbers such as squashes and melons. Poles can also be arranged in a square layout. Wind round parallel rows of string between the poles if additional support is needed.

If your climber came twined around only one bamboo cane, then you’ll have to untwine it completely and find another two canes to train the stems. Tie the stems and canes to the wire supports. Garden twine is better than wire, which can damage the stems and leaves. Snip off the excess twine with scissors.
