I could not find a reason for that as it can edit any arabic file without any issue. I have contacted Microsoft support and I have been told to use onedrive to create any Arabic document.

There is a workaround for Word for Mac which some find useful: Create an arabic document in Windows Word, Word Online, or iOS Word and import it into your Mac as a template. This can then sometimes be used to do correct arabic.
