I bought a high speed SSD (X25-M G2) for my Thinkpad X61 Tablet with the hope of achieving an ultrafast and quiet machine. I installed a fresh copy of Windows 7, with every firmware and drivers updated to current releases... sadly to find out X61 Tablet SATA-II support was capped at 150Mbps.

Jul 24, 2010 · As I know, revision number 2.25 for sxga+ support a sata II speed , SLIC 2.1 , whitelist,etc. In my guess , you shoud get a permission to modify the bios that leokim made. you should better to keep in touch with him to get a revision number 2.25 bios.

May 23, 2014 · I have a X61T that has been running Windows 8 since it came out, but I have been growing increasingly tired of the lack of full button support, and have decided to downgrade to Windows 7 so I can get all the utilities and buttons working. At the same time I thought I would upgrade to an SSD, and wonder if anybody has any model suggestions/tips.

SATA II Mod: While the X61/T61/R61/X300 possess a SATA II-interface (up to 3.0 GBit/s) they were limited to SATA I (up to 1.5 GBit/s) in the BIOS to maintain compatibility with older drives. Normal hard drives will rarely max out SATA I speeds, but nowadays, SSDs can handle the full 3.0 GBit/s (and more).
