Nov 06, 2009 · I just bought home a new Xbox 360, hooked up with my HDMI cable and the display worked perfectly. Then started the nightmare. I did a latest update with the console and display went blank and every time i started the 360 it gave “Display mode not supported” and there was no display.

Now technically I can plug my xbox 360 in my monitor using the vga cable adapter, but then I'd have to constantly plug and unplug the cable to use my pc and the console, which is certifiably not cool. My monitor supports DVI, which would allow me to keep both my computer and console plugged.

Dec 20, 2007 · Ok, so here's the problem with using HDMI to DVI cabling on a 360: No sound. While all new 360s have HDMI (look for the little HDMI logo on the box), only the Elite comes with the A/V dongle that will provide L/R RCA and optical audio out w/HDCP support.

So using the Dell shipped DVI cable the monitor works with the DVI port on the computer. That means the issue is with the cabling for the 360 and the PS3 or that those devices video settings are not correct.
