Started, but not yet ready to leave some developer's private patch queue in their dev-boxes. The need to support both HVM and PV guests complicate things quite a bit. Xenbus, qemu, a lot of inherent characteristics of the Xen architecture get in the way of having it simply done within the hypervisor (as it happens for NUMA aware scheduling).

Apr 26, 2012 · NUMA and Xen. The Xen hypervisor already deals with NUMA in a number of ways. For example, each domain has its own “node affinity”, which is the set of NUMA nodes of the host from which memory for that domain is allocated (in equal parts).

Nov 04, 2010 · Inserting acpi=on numa=on as a xen boot parameter should enable NUMA support (by default it is off). I believe that by default it would then pick the least busiest node (which can hold the requested memory) and restrict the VM to that node (by only allowing CPUs of that node).

NUMA (Non Uniform Memory Access) means that memory access times of a program running on a CPU depends on the relative distance between the specific CPU and memory area. In fact, in NUMA systems, there usually is more than one memory controller, each one local to a …

This article describes how to set the virtual CPU management of Virtual Machines (VM) running on a Citrix XenServer. Background. In the default setup of XenServer, physical CPU resources are split between VMs using a fair-share balancing algorithm.
