Jul 21, 2010 · XFS on RHEL4 I can get it running on RHEL5 by making the kernel module from source. I can create filesystems using mkfs.xfs from xfsprogs, and I can mount them successfully.

May 02, 2013 · If it was set up with RHEL 5 prior to 5.6, ext4 would have still been in the Technology Preview phase, so compared against ext3, XFS was probably the better choice of the two at the time.
