Are you using VCenter Server to backup through or connecting directly to the esxi 5.1 hosts? In a test scenario I have been able to backup a server 2012 VM running on an ESXI 5.1 host through backup exec 2010 and Vcenter server 5.1 with no issues or orphaned snapshots etc.

Oct 13, 2014 · So if you have support/subscription it is time to upgdate your Symantec software. Maaaay be there will be some update for BE 2012 for vSphere 5.5u2 support (not sure), but i doubt that there will be the same update for BE 2010, because BE 2010 is obsolete.

Aug 30, 2011 · As VMware are pulling support for VCB I want to move to a product which utilisies the vstorage API's. I have narrowed it down to either VEEAM 5.0, or backup exec 2010 with the VM agent. My plan is to backup to a network share, then archive this to tape for off-site. Does anybody have any experience of either of these 2 products?
