Aug 08, 2015 · the Mrs has bent the Mazda's bumper reinforcement bar behind the bumper a little bit after running into a concrete pole at moderate speed, just wondering what impact this would have on the safety of the vehicle if it was just bent back out?? would it weaken significantly the structure in the event of another incident you think?? or should I replace the reinforcement bar to maintain rigidity??

Feb 24, 2015 · What I suggested was for minor distortions of the bumper itself (like one end of it bent in slightly) that could often be "corrected" by pulling on one side of the bumper. If a bracket is bent, that could be straightened by hammering because you cannot see it after you remount the bumper, but it is always better to remove the bumper first.

Aug 11, 2005 · I did this to my LX not too long ago. I crashed the left side of the front bumper, trashed both fenders, fender aprons, and bent the radiator support. Luckily I got an appreciative body man to work with me. That crinkled metal part behind your battery is the fender apron, and starts from about the shock tower and goes up to the radiator.
