I am considering buying a Lite-On iHAS324-98 and I need to know whether or not this burner will support bitsetting. Also, are there any hidden gotchas, like rebadging or some off-the-wall chipset? May 28, 2008 · I'm looking to replace my LG with a Pioneer unit however I've noticed no Pioneer units support bitsetting, am I correct? Bitsetting is a requirement for me as a few of my set top DVD players will not play +R media unless I burn them with the bitsetting feature... As for the original question, I’m fairly sure that no Matshita DVD burners support bitsetting for DVD+R single layer media, few have any firmware updates at all, and I don’t know of any firmware that would enable bitsetting for DVD+R SL media. Also, I am not aware of Matsushita/panasonic releasing any firmware updates for their drives … ever.

Dec 28, 2006 · Your drive might not support bitsetting - full stop. Most Sony drives up until now have just been OEM LiteOn ones - hence the stuff on the LiteOn tab normally works. Early models only supported the 'Next Write' style of doing things - they've become much more user friendly since then - the drives now remember how you want the bitsetting stuff ...
