Cat6 can be used for 10Mbps, 100Mbps, 1000Mbps and 10Gbps. But Cat6 can support 10GBASE-T for only up to 55 meters (depending on crosstalk) and frequencies of up to 250 MHz. May 11, 2016 · The difference is that you need specialized network adapters with ports that support faster 10Gb throughput, and CAT6 or CAT7 cables versus CAT5 cables. CAT6/CAT7 cables have more individual copper wires, twisted tighter, with better shielding to prevent outside signal interference.

Feb 24, 2012 · I typically run cat6 for servers, infrastructure, and key departments and cat5e for everything else. I'm not seeing any mid term move to 10GB at all stations. I can see it for some CADD and Graphic Stations, and infrastructure, so my plans accommodate it just at those locations.

Jan 24, 2011 · The only switch that I have seen so far that will use 10Gb RJ45 cat6 wire is a Dell 8024 and it is a 24 port. Does anyone know if cat 6 is a waste of time and money to me it seems so. afidel
