Oct 13, 2006 · So we purchase a usb-parallel (db25) adapter and connected the parallel security dongle to it, and windows 2000 did in fact detect the adaptor and installed "usb printing support" in the hardware list. HOWEVER, it did not list a new LPT printer port, so the application cannot detect the parallel dongle connected to it.

While the program now sends all my LPT2 output to the USB printer port (which is great as it is), my escape codes for controlling text size, orientation and formatting are printing at the top of the page rather than being interpreted as printer commands ( for example \027E\027&160F). Any ideas?

Jul 12, 2007 · Just to clarify - my old software can print to parallel (LPT 1, 2 or 3) or COM (1, 2, 3 or 4) ports or to a PRN device. I want it to print to my new USB printer. It of course knows nothing about USB since it was written long before USB came into existence. I really prefer to get away from a parallel cable since all the printers are going USB.

The setting is usually under device manager where you scroll down to ports and left click and then right click on the lpt port being used and hit properties and they click on port settings and make the change.
