Nov 15, 2011 · U-APSD is a power-save mechanism that is an optional part of the IEEE amendment 802.11e, QoS. U-APSD is also known as WMM Power Save, and the behaviour and operation is exactly the same, except for coding of some information elements. U-APSD is working in conjunction with WMM and is tied with usa...

IEEE 802.11e-2005 or 802.11e is an approved amendment to the IEEE 802.11 standard that defines a set of quality of service (QoS) enhancements for wireless LAN applications through modifications to the media access control (MAC) layer. The standard is considered of critical importance for delay-sensitive applications, such as Voice over Wireless LAN and streaming multimedia.

Hello, besides experiencing major performance and signal issues I have noticed that WMM UAPSD and QoS isn't working properly. Even when the Client is requesting a buffer reales with QoS Null Data, the AP regurlaly doesn't send the content of the Queue, it waits till the scheduled buffered release.

This feature does not provide the same efficiency as U-APSD, but improves battery life for Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7921Gs on WLANs without U-APSD. Figure 2-12 shows an example of traffic flows with U-APSD. In this case, the trigger for retrieving traffic is the client sending traffic to the AP. ... For WLANs that support WMM clients or ...

The WMM power-save procedures are based on the legacy procedures, but an option for unscheduled automatic power-save delivery (U-APSD) is added. WMM APs capable of supporting U-APSD shall signal this capability through the use of the U-APSD subfield (b7) in the QoS Info Field in Beacon, Probe Response and (Re)Association Response management frames.

U-APSD support. U-APSD (or WMM-Power Save or WMM-PS) is a Wi-Fi capability that saves power consumption on low periodic latency-sensitive traffic modes, like a VoIP. We have identified interoperability (IOT) issues with certain access points that result in reduced RX throughput.
