Dec 27, 2011 · Please also note that there are certain issues with regards to using openfiler in clustering in windows 2008. Please read on "SCSI 3 Persistent Reservation" as a requirement for windows clustering which as of the moment openfiler does not "officially" support.

Jun 22, 2012 · I hate to have to mention other products, but there simply is no way to use FreeNAS reliably in a clustered environment since it does not have the ability to support scsi reservations. Here is the VMWare KB. It mentions OpenFiler, but the focus is on IET (the same that is used by FreeNAS).

Aug 23, 2010 · This is where it mostlikely goes wrong, if OpenFiler does not releases the reservation upon the SCSI BUS RESET from Node-B, then Node-B will not be able to bring the Quorum disk online, and will leave no other option than to terminate Cluster Service. The C:\Windows\Cluster\cluster.log file will probably detail more about this.
