    Oct 04, 2006 · Pentium D 805 is quite poor dual core processor. I have Pentium D 930 at 3,6Ghz (overclocked a little) and have very big advantage when using smp kernel on my amd64 arch. Good thing is now i don't need to install smp kernel, cos smp is supported by default in new kernels - thanks to developers. But i have qemu with windows and debian-i386 running.

More precisely, I think, that a hyperthreading cpu capable to support two simultaneous threads, and a dual core cpu with the same clock frequency, should be almost the same regarding performance.
