I am trying to configure Asterisk 12.3.2 on Debian 6.0.9 but I am getting an error: "configure: error: *** termcap support no found (on modern systems, this typically means the ncurses development package is missing)". When I try to install it by: apt-get install libncurses5-dev I get the message that package cannot be found.

Jun 04, 2011 · The following information has been found for adding the 32 bit support to Fedora 11 but it does not work in Fedora 12. The file created in the instructions below is a list of the 32 bit libraries. It is then called as input to yum to simply install them.

Also note that standard Debian kernel/linux source/image packages DO NOT track anything beyond the subminor version number (the Z in kernel x.y.z), so there is no specific package for, say, 2.6.8-2: only 2.6.8, which will get you whatever the latest revision of that version happens to be.

Nov 29, 2007 · So let's try to make Asterisk happy and give it termcap support. But there is NOTHING TO INSTALL to provide termcap support on Ubuntu - nothing from Ubuntu and nothing from GNU - because TERMCAP IS OBSOLETE. So this appears to be a BUG and the directions in the 2nd edition of the Asterisk book will FAIL FOR EVERYONE NOT USING CentOS (apparently.)
