The 2850 BIOS doesn't support VT. Even with the server running a VT supported processor, the limitation is that the servers BIOS doesn't. The 9th generation Dell servers are the ones that started supporting Virtualization Technologies.

We have a Dell PowerEdge 2850 server that we're looking to do run some virtual servers on. Based on our research Xenserver is the best fit for our business needs. Jul 29, 2011 · VT stands for Virtualization Technology, which is an option in your CPU processor settings in BIOS, that needs to be enabled. Ideally you would expect that when you install ESXi, it would check the “VT” option in bios and warn you that it is not enabled.

Jun 18, 2015 · Hi, I am trying to install a 180 Day trial of Windows Server 2012 x64 on a Dell Poweredge 2850 with a PERC 4e RAID controller. As with most Dell PE servers, you need the Dell Installation and Server management disc before installing the OS, or it will not recognise the RAID volume, or you need a disc/floppy with the driver.
