Aug 04, 2014 · Same problem with both versions of halo CE, This is not an isolated problem and it is caused by the Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2919442) [the update I installed and games stopped working] update with 3D acceleration and direct Draw are replaced with software emulation. The software emulation does not work for most games.
