As cheap as SSE4.2-supporting CPUs are these days it is silly to object to a GPU driver requiring SSE4.2 in the cpu--you can buy an AMD FX-xxxx CPU for a *quarter* of the price of an R9 390x, for instance.Reviews: 77

Mar 17, 2011 · Despite the similarity of the names, SSE3 is unrelated to S SSE3 and the same is true for SSE4a and SSE4.1. AMD has to date not implemented the S SSE3 and SSE4.1 instruction sets on any of their CPUs. Therefore the recommended GSdx version for AMD users is the SSE2 one. There is a minor speed loss, but it is only about 10% overall.

Mar 15, 2006 · I'm thinking of upgrading my current 3400+ (the rare 939 version) to a dual core opty 165 or X2 4400+. However I need to know if either of these processors support SSE2. The reason is I want to upgrade to Adobe Premire Pro 2.0 and the specs say you need SSE2. Is there some sort of table that tells which CPU's support which version of SSE. Thanks.

These instructions are not found in Intel's processors supporting SSE4.1 and AMD processors only started supporting Intel's SSE4.1 and SSE4.2 (the full SSE4 instruction set) in the Bulldozer-based FX processors.
