Jul 05, 2010 · Does AviDemux support MP4? In Ubuntu I can open the files and edit and when I save a MPEG but no other video editing program will open them as they are unrecognised format. AviDemux creates files with a format that nothing will recognise.

Nov 02, 2016 · With great effort (and discussion with customer support), I was able to change it's output to be AC3 vs AAC, again for reason stated above. I did not anticipate I would need to gop-edit the MP4/ac3 files with AviDemux, but an occasion arose today requiring that. But got hit by the "does not support AC3 in MP4" bomb.

Saving is still a bit of a mystery for me - I just save to .MP4 - which is the same internal format as my original .MOV - as I understand just a different container - then the saving is very fast in seconds - which shows AviDemux doesn't have to re-encode the video to save.

I open the video and when I hit the "info" button I get video: H264 and Audio AAC This seems to be great. From what I can tell, if I use my Roku for example, it plays H264 and AAC but in an MP4 format. All I need to do is change the container.
