Nov 01, 2016 · DTS and Dolby are both just audio codecs. Neither are lossless, so whatever sounds better to your ear is the one to go with. A lot of people say that DTS is slightly better since it degrades the sound less. I have mine XBOX 1 on DTS and just leave it at that.

Dolby Surround will attempt to upmix content to your height channels, but the end result is nowhere near what actual Atmos sounds like. Upmixing from 7.1 surround over 2 channel stereo still provides no positional data, so compared with actual Atmos games where 3 dimensional sound is calculated in real-time, it sounds pretty bad.

Am I still not setting something that I can't think of or does the soundcard and/or receiver need to support Dolby Digital Live!(not just DD) for this to work?
