Mar 03, 2014 · You might be running an ios image that does not support ssh. If you would, pelase post the output of "sh ver in IOS" command here. Cisco words: "Requirements. The Cisco IOS image used must be a k9(crypto) image in order to support SSH. For example c3750e-universalk9-tar.122-35.SE5.tar is a k9 (crypto) image."

I have a Cat 3550 in which I enable SSH on, now the console password seems to be disabled.(Yes I do have one setup) I can plug a console cable in and the I get right into user mode (no password). Ive tried to find info on this but havent been very succesful. Anybody know how to re-enable the console...

Solved: I downloaded a new IOS that said IP base w/ crypto because I was unable to enable ssh on the old IOS. However when I try to run the crypto key generate command I get the invalid input message. I did a show ver: Switch#sh version Cisco IOS

To use SSH you need a cryptographic (encrypted) IP services image i.e the enhanced multilayer software image [EMI]) installed on your switch. The image you have is a SMI image (standard multilayer image) and doesnot support that feature.
