Aug 27, 2013 · I have a (USB wired) 360 controller that works just fine with Fallout 3. In the ingame options menu, select Controls, then tick the 360 controller option to 'yes'. You're good to go.

Jun 05, 2019 · In Fallout 3, the controller itself is fully supported by itself, but the catch with this is, that if you have a controller plugged into a USB port while playing Fallout 3, you can't use console alongside a 360 controller without unplugging the controller, opening the console and typing what you have to, because of Bethesda being Bethesda.

Apr 01, 2009 · Fallout 3 has native support for the 360 controller. I have played it on my HDTV a few times and I had no issues. Funny thing is that after playing gta4, which i use my 360 pc controller for bikes and copters I sometimes forget to disconnect and start playing FO3 which abruptly reminds me that I've still got my controller plugged in by shutting down my keyboard control ingame.

OP - I can tell you for certain that this game always had controller support out of the box. I owned Fallout 3 for PC on disc, long before I ever owned the GOTY on Steam. The GOG version assuredly has gamepad support, because GOG wouldn't have the ability to take it out. Yeah, but it isn't as good as Mouse and Keyboard.

By the way, you could also use your PS3 controller with XPadder and just forget the 360 controller altogether. Fallout 3 SHOULD have native controller support with an easy-to-use layout, but if it doesn't, there are freeware alternatives that will provide you with a simple alternative.

Not all games support both -- Gone Home supports the Xbox 360 controller but not the Xbox One controller, for example. Perhaps that fact that Fallout 3 is a GFW game means that Bethesda got controller drivers from the source at Microsoft, and games with these drivers, played on Windows 10, just work with the Xbox One controller.

Oct 16, 2011 · Also, since I'm using a PS3 controller (my ps3 came with a wired charger, my 360 didn't) I use a program called DS3 tool to get it recognized as a 360 controller, since most PC games support a 360 controller as game pad but not the PS3 controller.
