Jan 31, 2009 · It's covered in iMovie '09 help under "Making a backup copy of the contents of your camcorder". iMovie '08 did not import AVCHD clips unless they were stored on the camcorder. iMovie '09 added an "Archive All" button in the camera dialog that copies the raw files from the camcorder into an archive file on your hard disk.

Apr 01, 2009 · Interesting, so HD video (AVCHD) will be converted to Apple format (AIC) by way of having iMovie '09 do so. Basically iMovie 09 can import from any HD Camcorder that has AVCHD assuming its from an HD camcorder that's listed on the compatibility chart published on the iMovie 09 Apple support website.

Though the new iMovie 10.0 for Mac OS X Mavericks/Yosemite claims the native support for AVCHD, its support for AVCHD is just the same as iMovie 11: iMovie can import and edit native AVCHD in 1080i 50/60, 720p 24/25/30, 1080p 24/25/30, but iMovie does not support AVCHD 1080p 50/60 or 720p 60.

Aug 23, 2009 · Does iMovie support .AVCHD video format? Ok I'm thinking of getting the Canon HG10 Camcorder. I have a mac so I'll be using iMovie '09 for some of my editing, can it automatically take the raw video file from the camera and start editing it?
